Hi everyone! My name is Lauren Ferralli, and I am currently an occupational therapy student at Walsh University. My fieldwork experience with Sendero Therapies is my first Level II experience and I’m so excited to be here! I have already learned so much as a student and a future occupational therapist. I have truly loved my experience so far – especially meeting all the kiddos along the way!
School-based occupational therapy is an incredible way for children to improve their skills both inside and outside the classroom. I have had the opportunity to observe and work alongside occupational therapists and certified occupational therapy assistants. Creative interventions are their specialty, making the treatment sessions fun and engaging for the kids while still helping them work toward their goals. One of my favorite interventions so far involves using toy cars and paint to have the kids copy and imitate pre-writing shapes. The kids absolutely loved it – and so did I!
During my time with Sendero Therapies, my knowledge of school-based occupational therapy, interventions, and evaluations has grown tremendously. The therapists create a supportive environment that allows students to succeed and thrive. I think that Sendero Therapies is a wonderful organization with an even better staff!
